Providence, RI- After a 2-0 weekend with the Brown men's water polo team earning victories over Harvard and MIT, junior Svetozar Stefenovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named the CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week, sophomore Walker Shockley (Diamond Bar, CA) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, and freshman Henry Fox (Mercer Island, WA) was named the Rookie of the Week.
Stefanovic, a two-time Northern Division Player of the Week honoree this season, notched nine goals, two assists, six steals and six ejections drawn this weekend for the Bears in two conference games on Saturday afternoon.
During Brown's 11-4 victory over the Crimson, he recorded six goals with two assists, six steals and three ejections drawn to key the Bears to their first Northern Division win of the season. In the night-cap across town at MIT, he registered three goals, three ejections drawn and two saves in aiding Brown to a narrow 7-6 win over the host Engineers.
Shockley earns his second Defensive Player of the Week nod this year after combining for 18 saves in wins at Harvard and MIT on Saturday. He stopped 11 shots against the Crimson before nothing seven saves with two steals in a tight 7-6 win over MIT to improve the Bears to 2-1 in Northern Division player this year.
Fox earns his first CWPA weekly award this season, as he helped out in the wins with two goals and an assist against Harvard, before adding pairs of goals and steals in a narrow 7-6 win at MIT.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15, against Fordham at Mercyhurst at Harvard.
