Men’s Water Polo Earns Post Season Honors
Providence, RI- Sophomore standout Svetozar Stefanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was named the Northern Division Most Valuable Player and was selected to the First Team All-North and East after helping the Bears to a spot in the Northern Division Championship game as well as a fifth-place finish at Easterns. Also, senior Gordon Hood (Carlsbad, CA) was named First Team All-North, while freshman James McNamara (Los Angeles, CA) was selected to the Second Team All-North.
Stefanovic, the 2009 CWPA Player of the Year, leads the Bears in scoring with 65 goals and ejections drawn with 34. In addition, he handed out five assists and helped the Bears to a 18-12 overall record including a 6-1 mark in the Northern Division.
Hood, a team co-captain, is earning First Team All-Northern for the second consecutive season. Third on the team in scoring with 39 goals, Hood was second in assists with 27 and recorded 18 steals.
McNamara made a big impact for the Bears in his rookie season, as he was second on the team in scoring with 46 goals and 21 assists. He tallied 22 ejections drawn on the year, and had a team-high 25 steals.
