Brown Water Polo Sweeps CWPA Northern Division Honors

Providence, RI- Brown University goalkeeper Kent Holland
(Orinda, CA) was named the CWPA Player of the Week and freshman
Svetozar Stefanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) earned Rookie of the Week
honors after solid performances at the Santa Clara University Rodeo
Tournament.
Holland combined for 39 saves, six steals and one assist in five
games as the Bears competed against five talented teams out west,
four of which are nationally ranked. He recorded nine saves against
Fresno Pacific (W, 13-2), and went on to tally six against No. 20
California Baptist (L, 11-8), nine versus No. 15 United States Air
Force Academy (L, 9-8), six against No. 13 University of
California-Davis (L, 8-4) and seven against No. 16 Santa Clara (L,
10-8).
Stefanovic garnered his seventh weekly award from the CWPA today,
as he earned Rookie of the Week honors. The Sept. 14 & 28
Player of the Week, the honor marks his fifth Rookie of the Week
accolade after previously receiving the Sept. 7, 21 and Oct. 12 and
19 awards.
Over the weekend he appeared in all five contests with 13 goals,
five steals, 13 ejections drawn and 10 steals. In Brown’s
victory over Fresno Pacific, he posted a hat-trick with three goals
and contributed four steals, and went on to notch another hat-trick
in the Bears’ loss to Air Force, while adding an assist, a
steal and five ejections drawn as the Bears nearly upset the
Falcons. Against Cal Baptist, he notched three goals with an
assist, two steals and a pair of ejections drawn before combining
for three goals, an assist, three steals and six ejections drawn
against Santa Clara and UC Davis.
