Boston, MA -
While many of the men on the cross country team spent the weekend resting up for the upcoming NCAA Regional Meet, six men represented Brown at the USATF New England Championships. Junior Nick Sarro (Chatham, NY) led the men to a sixth place finish in the Open Men's 10-kilometer race, held at Franklin Park. As the race was not exclusive to college athletes, the Boston Athletic Association took top honors.
Sarro, who placed 20th overall with a time of 31:41, was followed by sophomore Brian Schmidt (West Hempstead, NY) who placed 28th in 32:13. Next for Brown, and in 33rd place was freshman Duriel Hardy (West Chester, PA), who completed the 6.2 mile run in 32:22.
Junior Jacob Nettleton (South Orange, NJ) and freshman Scott Cary (Mt. Vernon, WA) placed 63rd and 86th respectively, filling the two remaining scoring positions. Sophomore Aaron Isham (Lancaster, NY) also competed, finishing in 101st place.
The rest of the cross country squad will be competing at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet on November 11. The race will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY
