Bears Place Second at Iona Meet of Champions

New York, NY - The men's cross country team placed second in a field of 24 teams today at the Iona Meet of Champions. The eight-kilometer race was held at Van Cortlandt Park. The Bears took second with 66 points to No. 5 Iona College who scored 26 points. Boston College placed third with 93 points, and Harvard was fourth with 108.

Senior Nick Neely (Portola Valley, CA) made his season debut placing first for the Bears and 12th overall. He completed the course in a time of 25:11. Junior Ozzie Myers (Chittenango, NY) and freshman Christian Escareno (Mount Prospect, IL) finished next, taking 17th (25:23) and 18th (25:27), respectively.

Senior Captain Chris Burke (Ann Arbor, MI) placed 24th (25:31) and junior Ari Zamir (Ridgewood, NJ) placed 28th (25:37), filling the fourth and fifth scoring positions for Brown.

The men will compete again on Saturday, October 7 at the New England Championship Meet to be held at Franklin Park in Massachusetts.
