Nov. 22, 2004
Terre Haute, Ind. - Seniors Jeff Gaudette (Biddeford, ME) and captain Patrick Tarpy (Yarmouth, ME) finished out their collegiate cross country careers today at the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Indiana. Their finishes at last week's Northeast Regional meet granted them individual berths.
A rain-soaked course proved challenging to the entire field as the men raced a 10-kilometer course. Colorado University took top team honors with 90 points.
Gaudette will return to Providence with All-American status. This is his second consecutive year earning the honor. He finished 29th overall out of a field of 243 of the nation's best runners. He improved from last year by nine spots and was clocked at 31:40.
Tarpy crossed the line in 68th place in a time of 32:15.
This marks the end of competition for the 2004 season for the Brown men's cross country. Indoor track will kick-off on December 4 as the Bears race at home in the Alden Invitational.
