Bears Place Sixth at NCAA Regional Meet

Bronx, NY - In their last meet of the season, the Brown men were able to redeem themselves from their disappointing seventh place finish at the Heptagonal Championships by trumping Dartmouth, Yale, and Cornell. The Bears scored 198 points, which was good for sixth place in the field of 34 teams.

Junior Ari Zamir (Ridgewood, NJ) led Brown with his 32:40 performance in the 10-kilometer race. Zamir placed 27th overall, missing All-Region recognition by just two places. Senior Nick Neely (Portola Vallet, CA) was close behind, concluding his collegiate cross country career with a 33rd place 32:49 finish.

Juniors Ozzie Myers (Chittenango, NY) and Ryan Graddy (Del Mar, CA) were next for Brown, finishing close together in 36th (33:00) and 39th (33:02) respectively. Senior Captain Chris Burke (Ann Arbor, MI) filled the remaining scoring position for Brown in 63rd with a 33:30 effort. Senior Neil Hamel (Cumberland, RI) also competed, concluding his Brown cross country career as well.

This meet marks the end of the 2006 cross country season for the Bears. Their 2006-2007 indoor track season will kick off at home with the Alden Invitational on December 2. The meet will be held at the Olney-Margolis Athletic Center.
