Men's and Women's Tracksters Close Out Season At NCAA Regionals

Fairfax, VA - Several members of the Brown men's and women's track team competed at the 2003 NCAA East Regional Track Championships on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Despite several excellent performances no athletes advanced to the NCAA Championships as they faced the toughest competition from over 100 institutions from the east.

On the men's side senior Brad Bowery finished tied for ninth in the pole vault with a jump of 4.91 meters. Senior Sean Thomas placed tenth in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 15.17 meters.

Senior Enda Johnson placed 12th in the 1,500 meter finals with a time of 4:11.48. Johnson advanced to the finals with a 12th place performance in the prelims with a time of 3:49.97.

Freshman Ray Bobrownicki tied for 15th in the high jump with a leap of 2.03 meters. He finished tied for second among freshmen in the event. Senior Chad Buechel placed 17th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:12.28.

Sophomore Jeff Gaudette placed 24th out of 42 in the 5,000 meters prelims with a time of 14:33.10. Sophomore Patrick Tarpy placed 29th in the 1,500 prelims with a time of 3:54.02. Junior Daveed Diggs placed 23rd in the 110 meter hurdle prelims with a time of 14.75

On the women's side senior Keely Tharp placed 12th in the 400 meter finals with a time of 1:02.70. Junior Katie Rowinski placed 17th in the high jump with a jump of 1.71 meters while freshman Brittany Grovey placed 17th in the triple jump with a leap of 12.23 meters.
