The Bears took twelve qualifying athletes to the IC4A/ECAC Championships this weekend at Princeton. The three-day competition gave some Bears a last chance to hit Regional-qualifying marks and allowed others to close their outdoor seasons with one more championship meet.
In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore captain-elect Jamil McClintock (Plainfield, NJ) set a personal best at 14.24 to qualify for NCAA Regionals and move to third all-time for Brown. The prelims time qualified him for Sunday's finals.
Senior Jordan Kinley (Santa Rosa, CA) won his preliminary heat of the 1500-meter run on Saturday in a personal best 3:48.29. Kinley re-set his personal record in the finals on Sunday by placing fourth in 3:47, which puts him tenth all-time for Bruno. Despite sickness, senior Anna Willard (Greenwood, ME) ran a prelims time of 4:32 in the 1500-meter run to qualify for finals. Willard will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Regionals. She currently ranks second in the nation in the event.
Sophomore captain-elect Akilah King (Medford, MA) blazed to a time of 24.18 in the prelims of the 200-meter run on day two to advance to Sunday's finals.
Freshman Ali Mumford (Gresham, OR) threw the javelin for 120-00 in her first ECAC Championships.
Representing the jumps crew at the Championships was junior Grant Bowen (Plainwell, MI) who tied for ninth in the pole vault at 15-7.
Senior Kent Walls (Beckley, WV) threw the hammer for 174-11, and rookie Molly Hawksley (Rumford, RI) competed in the same event, hitting 151-02. Sophomore Mathieu Frankel (Newton, MA) competed in the shot put on Sunday.
Junior Naja Ferjan (Ljubljana, Slovenia) timed 2:10.47 in the 800-meter run on day two to qualify for Sunday's finals.
Brown will take qualifying athletes to the NCAA Regional Championships in North Carolina in two weeks where the Bears will compete to advance to NCAA Nationals.
