Storrs, CT-- The men's track and field team traveled to Storrs, CT to compete in the University of Connecticut Invitational today. The competitors faced rainy, humid conditions. The distance squad brought in wins in the 1500m, steeplechase and 5000m. There were also some strong performances on the field.
Junior Jordan Kinley (Santa Rosa, CA) won the 1500m with a time of 3:55.96. Also scoring in that event were freshmen Ari Zamiar (Ridgewood, NJ) in fourth place, Nick Sarro (Chatham, NY) in fifth, and junior Tushar Gurjal (New York, NY) in seventh.
Sophomore Chris Burke (Dexter, MI) won the 5000m run in 14:37.57. Freshman Ryan Graddy (Del Mar, CA) was seventh. The Bears garnered another win from freshman Ozzie Myers (Chittenango, NY) in the steeplechase.
Freshman Mathieu Frankel (Newton, MA) took second in the shot put with a put of 13.78m/45'2.5").
Junior Kent Walls (Beckley, WV) won the discus. His throw of 41.13m/134'11" was almost two meters better than second place.
Sophomore Paul Rosiak (Wood-Ridge, NJ) placed third in the javelin with a throw of 55.58m/182'4".
The men return to competition next weekend at the Penn Relays, which begin on April 28. For those not traveling to Philadelphia, Brown is hosting the Springtime Invitational on May 1.
