Men's Track and Field Takes Second at Home Invitational

Providence, RI - The track and field team competed this weekend at its annual home invitational. Out of the 10 attending teams, Brown took second place with 123.5 points, behind Dartmouth's 139.
Sophomore Ray Bobrownicki (Avondale, PA) set a personal best in the high jump, as he won the event, clearing 7'00.25". This mark ties him for third on the outdoor top ten list. Also rewriting the top ten for the jumps, freshman Grant Bowen (Plainwell, MI) had a successful day, vaulting 15'5" in the pole vault, taking second overall and fourth all time for Brown. Sophomore Michael Murray (Millford, MA) and senior co-captain Tony Hatala (Valporiso, IN) also scored in the event with third and fifth place showings, and Murray's height of 14'11" placed him tenth on the top ten.
Taking second in the 200 meter dash, senior co-captain David Owen (Huntington, NY) raced to a time of 22.16, and junior Dallas Dissmore (Fort Irwin, CA) got top points for the Bears by winning the 400 meter dash in 48.31.
Debuting for in the 1500 meter event for this season, senior Brendan O'Keefe (Prospect Harbor, ME) placed third with a time of 3:51.35; senior Matthew Emond (Green Harbor, MA) also scored in the race, taking seventh in 3:54.38.
Sophomore Owen Washburn (Amherst, MA) made his collegiate debut in the 5000 meter race, coming in fourth with a time of 14:41.84.
Finishing first in both the preliminaries and finals of the 110 meter high hurdles, senior Daveed Diggs (El Cerrito, CA) had the fastest time of the day, clocking in at 14.90.
The sophomore duo of Jake Golenor (Redding, CA) and Kent Walls (Beckley, WV) racked up points in the throws for the Bears, culminating in their 2-3 finish in the discus with marks of 160'11" and 160'03" respectively.
