Gainesville, FL - The Brown men's track team opened up the spring season at the annual Florida Relays on Mar. 29-30. Several members of the team rewrote the Brown all-time top ten list in their events and two have already qualified for the NCAA Regionals.

Senior tri-captain Chad Buechel (Upper St Clair, PA) led off the distance medley relay with a time of 3:00.4 to help the squad finish third with a time of 9:53.97. The time ranks sixth on Brown's all-time top ten list.

The 4x1500 meter relay squad finished fourth in 15:56.82. Sophomore Jeff Gaudette (Biddeford, ME), junior Matt Emond (Green Harbor, MA), junior Matt Crimmin (Acton, MA) and sophomore Patrick Tarpy (Yarmouth, ME) were the members of that relay.

In the field, senior tri-captain Sean Thomas (Walkill, NY) placed fourth in the triple jump with a personal record of 48'11.5", the fourth bets time in Brown history.

Freshman Hugh Murphy (Baldwin City, KS) finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 215'7", a personal best for the rookie. The throw places him third all-time for Brown.

Freshman Ray Bobrownicki (Avondale, PA) cleared 6'9.5" in the high jump to finish third. His jump ranks him sixth on Brown's list.

Both Murphy's and Bobrownicki's marks qualified them for the NCAA Regionals.

Brown continues action on Saturday April 5 in a tri-meet with Harvard and host Dartmouth.
