Ithaca, NY - The Brown Men's Indoor Track & Field squad finished in seventh place at the 2008 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Sunday afternoon at Cornell University. The Bears were led by junior David Howard's first place finish in the shot put, as he also earned fifth in the weight throw. Cornell came in first (205), followed by Princeton in second (149), Yale (58), Dartmouth (50), Penn (44), Columbia (39), Brown (30) and Harvard (14).
Notching fourth place finishes was Sean O'Brien (Westborough, MA) earning a 1:53.74 in the 800m, and sophomore Christian Escareno (Mount Prospect, IL) in the 3,000m with an 8:32.63. Senior Ari Zamir (Ridgewood, NJ) took fifth in the 5,000m (14:44.17), and Escareno (14:50.47) and Duriel Hardy (West Chester, PA) (14:51.04) came in right behind for sixth and seventh place finishes, respectively. Bruno's Matthew Jasmin (Middletown, NY) also had a solid performance this afternoon, picking up fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.18).
In the field events, Reginald Cole (Seattle, WA) earned fifth in the triple jump (48-02.00), as Howard takes the shot put title with a 56-08.00 throw. Howard's 58-03.75 in the weight throw earned fifth, and Tyler Prince (Daniels, WV) posted a 54-04.00.
