Buechel and Thomas Capture Heptagonal Titles In Mile and Triple Jump

Hanover, NH - The Brown men's track team placed fifth at the 2003 Heptagonal Championships hosted by Dartmouth with 56 points. Cornell placed first with 130 points while Princeton, Penn and Dartmouth rounded out the top four with 122, 70 and 60 points respectively. Senior Chad Buechel (Upper St. Clair, PA) came away with the Heps Title in the mile with a time of 4:07.14. Senior Sean Thomas also took home the triple jump crown for the Bears with a leap of 14.82 meters.
Senior Brandon Buchanan (Fairfax, VA) placed second in the 60 meters with a time of 6.90. Freshman Ray Bobrownicki also placed second in the high jump with a jump of 2.03 meters. Senior Brad Bowery (Hamden, CT) took second in the pole vault, clearing 5.10 meters.
Junior David Owen placed fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 49.34. Sophomore Jeff Gaudette took fifth in the seeded 5,000 meters with a time of 14:45.42. Freshman Kent Walls also placed fifth in the weight throw with a throw of 15.74 meters.
