Bears Compete at USATF-New England Championships

Feb. 20, 2005

Cambridge, MA - The Bears sent a limited squad to compete at the New England Track and Field Championships this weekend. Hosted at Harvard, the meet served as a tune-up for next week's Heptagonal Championships for some men. Most rested in anticipation for next weekend.

Freshman Luke Renick (Werrington, VA) took third overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.66.

Senior Michael Piche (Pembroke, MA) was second in the mile run, clocking 4:13.33.

The duo of sophomore Christian Tabib (Valapariso, IN) and junior Jordan Kinley (Santa Rosa, CA) went 2-3 in the 800-meter run. They were timed at 1:55.98 and 1:56.14, respectively.

Junior Kent Walls (Beckley, WV) took third in the weight throw with a mark of 51-06.5.

Each of these men were the top collegiate athletes in their events, as the USATF-NE Championships allows for competitors from top local track clubs and other unattached athletes.

The Bears return to action on Saturday as they travel back to Cambridge to take on the Ivy League at the Heptagonal Championships.
