Boston, MA - The Brown men's track & field team competed at the Valentine Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Boston University. The Bears turned in many solid performances, including a seventh place finish by Andrew Chapin (47-00.75) in the triple jump, and an eighth place finish in the shot put by David Howard (51-09.00), and another eighth place finish in the 55m hurdles by Matthew Jasmin (7.68).
Solid performances were also turned in by Joseph Mastrangelo with a 22.48 in the 200m, Kevin Cervantes (49.36) in the 400m, and both John Loeser (4:10.81) and Nick Sarro (4:11.33) earned ninth and 10th place finishes, respectively, in the one mile run.
Sean O'Brien posted a 1:52.28 in the 800m to earn ninth, while teammates Alex Stern (1:56.05) and Chris Collins (1:57.48) crossed the line shortly after. In the 1,000m, John Haenle earned a 2:30.39 for 16th place, as Colin Brett ran a 8:24.39 in the 3,000.
Brown's Duriel Hardy came in ninth place in the 5,000m with a 14:32.54, and Ryan Graddy came in shortly behind with a 14:35.87 for 16th. Also finishing was Ari Zamir (14:42.61), Christian Escareno (14:56.77), and Mike Sweet (16:21.90). In the weight throw, Brown's Howard and Eric Wood both earned 15th place with a 52-04.75.
Brown is back in action on Saturday, February 16, at the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, New Hampshire.
