Gilbert is concetrating in Psychology and Africana Studies. A 400 meter runner, El made his mark his sophomore year at the Outdoor Heptagonal Championships where the 4x400 relay placed second. In the 2004 Outdoor Championships, Gilbert ran the first leg of the 4x400 which placed third. Beginning in his freshman year, El has been strongly involved with the Third World Center as a Minority Peer Counselor and last year was the Black History Month Coordinator. He will continue to fulfill these roles until he graduates this spring.
