PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's and women's track & field teams put up some solid results over the weekend as the Bears competed at the IC4A/ECAC Championships at Princeton and the New Balance Boston Twilight meet at Bentley College.
At the IC4As, the men's team totaled 12 points to finish 25th out of 48 teams, while Cornell won the meet with 68 points.
Evan Weinstock (Las Vegas, Nev.) placed third overall in the decathlon with 7,265 points. Weinstock, who competed in the decathlon for the second straight week after claiming the title at the Ivy League Championships, won three individual events during the competition at the IC4As.
In the field, Courtland Clavette (Asheville, N.C.) took fifth in the discus out of 38 throwers with a toss of 172-10, while Kenneth Thompson (Riverdale, N.Y.) finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 48-09.00.
In the ECACs, the women's team racked up 15.50 points to place 21st out of 54 teams, while Connecticut finished first with 73 points.
Lacey Craker (Baraboo, Wis.), who took second in the hammer throw at the Ivy League Championships last weekend, placed third in the event with a toss of 193-00. She also placed third overall out of 33 competitors in the discus with a toss of 156-07.
Also in the field, Hannah Wallace (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) finished tied for fifth in the pole vault with a cleared height of 12-06.00.
New Balance Twilight
At the New Balance Boston Twilight meet, Lily Harrington (West Hartford, Conn.) finished runner-up in the 3,000 meters in the time of 9:53.59, while Victoria O'Neil (Boise, Idaho) and Elizabeth Ryan (Farmington, Conn.) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, at 10:22.95 and 10:32.58.
Tess Plant-Thomas (San Diego, Calif.) was sixth in the 800 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:15.16.
On the men's side, Henry Tufnell (Cirencester, England) finished second in the 800 meters in a time of 1:50.73, while Colin Savage (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Tyler Benster (Mercer Island, Wash.) took fourth and fifth, respectively, at 1:51.21 and 1:51.25. Benster also finished third overall in the 400 meters with a time of 48.79.
The Bears return to action for the NCAA East Regionals on May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C.
