CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS – The Brown men's track and field program competed in the USATF New England Indoor Championships at Harvard's Gordon Track on Sunday, February 17. Serving as the final competition before league championships next weekend, the meet attracted athletes from Boston University, Dartmouth College, the Greater Boston Track Club and several other programs.
In the 60m hurdles, Christopher Garzia (East Meadow, NY) raced to fourth place with a time of 8.78s. Fredrick Rhine (Houston, TX) also competed in the sprint events and earned sixth in the 60m dash, clocking in at 7.22s.
Tyler Benster (Mercer Island, WA) ran a personal record of 1:55 to take fifth in the 800m, and Reuben Feinman (Menands, NY) closed in 1:57 for the eighth spot. Rounding out the distance events were performances by Kyler Evitt (Somerville, MA) who turned in a time of 8:43 in the 3000m run and Will Conway (Potomac, MD), who crossed in 4:18 in the mile.
The throws squad turned in strong tosses in the shot put, with Matt Miller (Lake Forest, IL) taking third with a mark of 14.85m and Courtland Clavette (Asheville, NC) grabbing fifth with a throw of 14.49m. Matthew O'Hara (Riverside, CA) earned the Bears' top finish in the weight throw, tossing 14.41m, and Meena Farid (Staten Island, NY) followed right behind in eighth place with a mark of 13.93m.
Freshman Ndailor Sheriff (Providence, RI) represented the jumpers, covering 12.65 meters in the triple jump to earn fifth place.
Next weekend, Brown's track and field program returns to Gordon Track for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Events start at 11am on Saturday, February 23 and at 10am on Sunday, February 24.
