Men’s Track & Field Competes at Harvard Challenge
Cambridge, MA- Senior Dan Lowry (Plymouth Meeting, PA) and junior Kevin Cooper (Waterford, IRL) led the Brown men's track & field team yesterday afternoon at the Gordon Track & Tennis Center by each winning titles at the Harvard Challenge.
Lowry earned the one-mile run title for the Bears with a 4:11.98 while also running in the race was sophomore teammate Erik Berg (Seattle, WA), who followed right behind with a 4:13.32. Cooper garnered the Bears second title by winning the 3,000m run with a time of 8:36.05.
Sophomore Jonathan Hilgart (Newton, NJ) finished fourth place for Bruno in the 60m dash and also ran in the 200m dash and earned seventh. Junior Nate Elder (Quincy, IL) came in fourth place in the 500m dash, and junior Kenneth Thompson (Riverdale, NY) and sophomore Jonathan Padmore (Boston, MA) earned second and third place finishes, respectively, in the triple jump.
Junior Daniel Smith (Saco, ME) picked up third place honors in the shot put, while freshman Matthew Miller (Lake Forest, IL) came in eighth.
The Bears will now prepare for the New Balance Games in Boston, Mass. on Jan. 27, and will then head to Kingston, R.I. for the Tribute to Charles Torpey on Feb. 4.
