Cambridge, MA- The Brown University men's track & field team competed at the USATF New England Championships hosted at Harvard University this weekend. The Bears had some great performances, as they continue to prepare for the Ivy League's Heptagonal Championships Feb. 25-26.
The Bears had a few solid performances in the 60m dash, as Marc Howland led the way with a fifth-place time of 7.14 seconds. Following close behind was Mike Mazerik, who finished in 7.18 seconds for sixth place, and in 11th place was Jonathan Hilgart (7.30).
In the 400m dash, Ajani Brown ran the track in 50.44 seconds to come in third place out of the 46 competitors, and in the one-mile run Chris Collins picked up fifth with a time of 4:15.13. Also competing in the one mile was Christian Escareno, who posted a 4:15.33 for sixth place, and also Brian Schilder finished eighth with a 4:20.55.
Erik Berg led Bruno in the 800m run with a second place time of 1:53.12, and Christian Trautwein came in right behind with a 1:53.84 for third. Brian Schilder was the Bears' top runner in the 3,000m run, posting an 8:30.20 for fourth place. Brendan Boyle crossed the finish line in 8:37.36 for seventh and right behind was Jeff Bush with an 8:42.54. Rounding out the running events was Arjun Pande, whose time of 8.74 seconds earned fourth place in the 60m hurdles.
Jon Diejuste picked up second place in the triple jump with a 46-06.75 (14.19m), and leading the throwers in the shot put was Daniel Smith's third-place toss of 53-05.50 (16.29m). Joseph Daou also competed in the shot, and finished 10th overall with a 45-09.75 (13.96m). In the weight throw, Alexander Lipinsky finished in 12th with a 44-05.25 (13.54m).
