Providence, RI- Brown University Director of Track & Field Michelle Eisenreich has recently announced the addition of Reuben Jones to her staff. Jones joins the Brown track & field staff as an assistant jumps coach after spending one season at Coastal Carolina.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Coach Jones join our staff," said Eisenreich. "His energy and passion for track & field will continue to elevate the success of the jumps squad and the Brown Track & Field program in general."
While at Coastal, Jones worked with the sprints, jumps and hurdles. At the 2010 Big South Indoor Championships, Coastal Carolina women's team claimed individual titles in the 60m, 200m, 60m hurdles, long jump, high jump and 4x400m relay. One athlete provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship in the 200m. The outdoor campaign saw Jones' event group set six school records in the women's 100 and 200 meter dashes (11.48/23.27), men's 4x100m relay (40.10), 110 hurdles (14.07), and men and women's high jump (2.24m/1.78m).
Before Coastal, Jones spent one season as a volunteer coach at his alma mater, the University of Virginia. At Virginia, Jones assisted the sprinters and hurdlers. During the 2009 outdoor season, the men's track and field team won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship for the first time in program history. Under Jones' watch Virginia had its first-ever 110-meter hurdle champion, while coaching athletes to three school records, four All-ACC performances and eight NCAA Regional Qualifiers. Jones has USATF Level II certification in the jump events.
Prior to coaching, Jones received his bachelor's degree in sociology from Virginia in 2008 and was a member of the track and field team for four years. Jones currently ranks second all-time in Virginia history in the 100-meter dash (10.45) and the 60-meter dash (6.79) and fourth
all-time in the 200-meters (21.16). He was the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America Champion in the 100-meter and 200-meter in 2007. Jones was named to the USTFCCCA All-East Region Team in 2008.
