Bryan Powlen Finishes 17th at NCAA Track & Field Championship

Eugene, OR- Brown University senior men's track & field captain Bryan Powlen (Kewanna, IN) finished his spectacular career at Brown University by finishing 17th in the discus throw (173-03) at the NCAA Division I 2010 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Powlen, a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier, leaves Brown with the second-best discus throw in school history with a mark of 183'3".

Powlen's leadership and work ethic made him into one of the most esteemed throwers in the league. In his 2010 outdoor campaign, Powlen recorded the best discus throw in the Ivy League to successfully defend his Heptagonal title, and also captured the IC4A title. Also, a successful shot putter, Powlen finished second at both the 2009 Outdoor Heps and the 2010 Indoor Heps. Powlen's focus and determination to achieve success over his four years allowed him to earn him a spot among the elite throwers in the program's history.

Powlen will continue to train as a post-collegiate athlete in Providence next year. Stay tuned for updates on the Brown competitors throughout the week.
