Michelle Eisenreich Named Northeast Region Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year
Providence, RI- In her ninth season with the Bears, Michelle
Eisenreich has recently been named the Northeast Region Track &
Field Assistant Coach of the Year. Eisenreich is Brown's
throws and multi events coach, and has helped her squad become one
of the best in the Ivy League.
Eisenreich has guided three student-athletes to
the NCAA Championship and had six All-Ivy selections in 2009.
During the spring, she helped lead sophomore standout Brynn Smith
(Saco, ME) to two Ivy League titles (shot put and hammer throw), as
she became just the third woman in Ivy League Championship history
to throw over 50-feet in the shot put to be named the Women's
Athlete of the Meet. Eisenreich also coached Second Team
All-Ivy selection Danielle Grunloh (Effingham, IL), who finished in
second place in both the shot put and discus at Heps.
On the men's side, Eisenreich guided senior
Bryan Powlen (Kewanna, IN) and sophomore Craig Kinsley (Fairfield,
CT) to NCAA Championship appearances. Powlen earned first
team All-Ivy honors in the in the discus and was also a second team
honoree in the shot put, while Kinsley garnered first team
recognition in the javelin.
Eisenreich competed at Carlton College in her
native Minnesota, winning her conference championship five times in
the shot and discus. In 1995, she was the MIAC Athlete of the
Meet outdoors, and holds school records in the shot, discus, and
was the school record holder in the 20lb weight and hammer until
2002. A four-time participant at the NCAAs, she earned
All-American honors in 1995 in the discus.
