Brown Opens Season At Tom Fallon Invitational

The Brown Bears opened the Jay Harris era in strong fashion at the 16th Annual Tom Fallon Invitational at the University of Notre Dame. The 2002 defending Ivy League Champs started off the weekend in strong fashion by defeating William & Mary, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ball State.

Against Wisconsin, Brown won four of the five singles victories were in straight sets led by Chris Drake's 6-4, 6-1 win over Stephen Ward and Jamie Cerretani's 7-6, 7-6 win over Jeffrey Kader.

Bruno's came out firing and kept on rolling picking up a pair of doubles wins against Big Ten powers Michigan and Wisconsin. The tandem of Nick Goldberg and Adil Shamasdin took care of business by taking out Blake Baratz/Scott Green of Wisconsin 8-3 and Anthony Jackson/Michael Rubin of Michigan 9-7.

The Bears continued their dominate performance from the morning by defeating Ball State 5-2. Nick Goldberg and Chris Drake stepped it up in their 3rd set super tie breakers defeating Matt Baccarani 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 and Matt Laramore 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 respectively to ensure the 4-2 brown win. Jamie Cerretani and Ben Brier picked up two key points for the Bruno's with their straight set wins.

In Doubles, the bears received wins from Nicholas Goldberg/Adil Shamasdin and Ben Brier/Chris Drake to ensure the doubles point.
