Cerretani '01 Wins Match at Wimbledon; Ranked 45th in the World (doubles)

PROVIDENCE, RI - Former Brown men's tennis standout Jamie Cerretani '01 has improved his world doubles ranking from #65 to #45 following his first career main draw ATP Tour Title. He also won a pair of victories on the ATP Tour; one at Wimbledon and the other at the Campbell's Tournament in Newport.

Playing with Victor Hanescu of Romania, the duo earned a victory (6-3, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6) over Bruno Soares of Brazil and Dusan Vemic of Serbia in the first round at Wimbledon. The lost their second-round match to 14th-seeded Max Mirnyi of Belarus and Jamie Murray of Great Britain (4-6, 6-4, 7-6, 7-0).

Up next for Cerretani was the Campbell's Tournament at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport. Playing with Kevin Anderson of Russia, Cerretani won his first round match, 6-7 (4), 6-2, (10-4) to advance to the quarterfinals. The duo lost in the quarterfinals (7-6 (4), 3-6, 10-7) to fourth-seeded Rohan Bopanna of India and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan, who played in the finals.

He then won his first title in Kitzbuhel, Austria, pairing again with Hanescu. The duo picked up wins against Luis Horna & Potito Starace (7-6 (6), 2-6, 10-8), Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo & Sergio Roitman (6-4, 6-4), and Daniel Koellerer & Frank Moser (6-3, 6-3) to advance to the finals. The pair won the title with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Lucas Arnold Ker and Olivier Rochus in the finals.
