Bears Gain NCAA Men's Tennis Berth for Third Time in Four Years

PROVIDENCE, RI - The 40th-ranked Brown men's tennis team (23-5), which completed an undefeated Ivy season last Thursday at Yale and gained the Ivy League's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee for the First and Second Round, May 14-15. The 64-team NCAA field is broken down into 16 four-team brackets.
The Bears, who are making their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the past four years, will face 26th-ranked Ohio State (19-8) in the first round. Brown and Ohio State will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. The winner will advance to face the winner of the match between East Tennessee State (20-3) and host Tennessee (14-8), the 10th seed in the tournament.
Brown made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2002, earning an automatic berth as the Ivy League Champion, and fell to The University of Mississippi, the seventh ranked team in the country, 4-0. The following year, Brown received an at large bid into the tournament, and fell to Wake Forest, the 28th-ranked team in the country, 4-3.
