PROVIDENCE, RI - Senior Dan Hanegby (Herzliya, Israel) and junior Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) have been selected to compete individually in the 2007 NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament, which will be held in Athens, Georgia at the University of Georgia, May 23rd-May 28th. Hanegby and Kohli are one of 32 doubles teams across the country to receive an automatic bid into the doubles championships. Automatic qualification into the Division I doubles championships is awarded to any conference with one or more doubles teams ranked in the ITA Top 60 for doubles. A subcommittee then applies NCAA selection criteria to determine which doubles team is the automatic qualifier from those conferences with more than one team ranked in the top 60.
As a doubles pair, Hanegby and Kohil have been ranked as high as #50 in the nation this year, entering the polls for the first time on April 3rd. The duo put together a 9-2 record this spring, playing mostly at #1 doubles, where they were 7-2. Highlighting their spring was an 8-6 win over Todd Paul and Mariusz Adamski of Wake Forest when that duo was ranked 25th in the nation.
In addition, Hanegby and Kohli are a combined 50-15 in doubles this season as Kohli has a 25-6 record and Hanegby is 25-9. Hanegby has also been ranked as high as #25 in the nation in doubles when playing with sophomore Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA).
In two years at Brown, Hanegby has amassed nearly 100 combined wins (43s, 53d), playing mostly at #1 singles and doubles the past two seasons. Kohli has also been extremely successful during his Brown career and with one season left is already on Brown's top-15 list for career singles wins (60 - 12th), career doubles wins (77 - 8th), and career combined wins (137 - 12th).
