FLUSHING, NY - The Brown men's tennis team (3-1), seeded second in the ECAC Championship, fell to fourth-seeded Penn, 4-1, in the Championship match of the ECAC Tournament held at the US Tennis Center in Flushing, NY over a four-day period.
The Quakers claimed the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2 and Brown was never able to recover as Penn took singles wins at #2, #3, and #4, including two three-set matches at #3 and #4, for the four points it needed to earn the win.
The Bears lone point came at #6 singles where senior Luke Tedaldi (West Newton, MA) earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory. In the other two matches, at #1 and #5, the Bears forced three sets, and Brown was ahead in the third set of both matches, but Penn had already clinched the win so they were not completed.
The Bears continue action October 21-26 at the ITA Regional Championships to be held at Dartmouth.
