FLUSHING, NY - The seventh-seeded Brown men's tennis team (2-0) posted its second straight 4-3 win at the ECAC Championships, defeating second-seeded Columbia in Quarterfinal action on Saturday. For the second day in a row, the top of the Bears' singles lineup failed to produce a win. But, the bottom half of the lineup picked up three close wins and, combined with another doubles win, was enough to edge the Lions, 4-3.
Brown won #2 and #3 doubles with idential 8-5 scores, before junior Chris Lee (Sudbury, MA) and senior Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) picked up a 9-8 win at #1 for the sweep. In singles action, Lee's match at #4 was extremely close as he won both sets by a 7-5 score. After freshman Jonathan Pearlman (New York, NY) won at #5, 7-6, 6-1, freshman Charlie Posner (Cambridge, MA) needed three sets at #6 to help Brown clinch the win.
