Bears Sweep Hartford and Lehigh

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown men's tennis team (6-1) earned a 7-0 victory over both Hartford and Lehigh on Saturday at the Pizzitola Center Indoor Courts. Hartford failed to show up for the match, giving Brown a 7-0 victory, winning all matches by default.

Against Lehigh, senior Adil Shamasdin (Pickering, ONT) led the way with a win at #1 doubles and a win at #1 singles. He combined with freshman Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) for an 8-2 win at #1 doubles, and earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at #1 singles.

In other doubles action, junior Richard Moss (Johannesburg, South Africa) and junior Luke Tedaldi (West Newton, MA) picked up an 8-6 win at #2, while freshman Scott Blumenkraz (Portola Valley, CA) and junior Philip Charm (Concord, MA) earned an 8-2 win at #3.

In singles action, Shamasdin led the way at #1, while Moss earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at #2. At #3 singles, Tedaldi picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win, while Charm won at #4, 6-2, 6-4. Freshman Michael Scherer (Potomac, MD) earned a 7-6, 6-2 win at #5, while Blumenkranz finished the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #6.

The Bears continue action next weekend when they host Colgate and NC State on Saturday, February 5, and Sunday, February 6, respectively.
