Bears Earn Second Win of the Day with 6-1 Victory over Buffalo

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown University men's tennis team (4-1) completed a sweep of its opponents on Saturday afternoon, earning a 6-1 victory over Buffalo, hours after defeating Boston College, 6-1. Junior Philip Charm (Concord, MA) helped to lead the Bears with a win at #1 doubles and #3 singles.

The Bears started the match with wins in all three doubles matches to sweep the doubles point. Charm teamed with senior Adil Shamasdin (Pickering, ONT) for an 8-2 win at #1, while the 60th-ranked duo, freshman Saurabh Kohli (Colaba, Mumbai, India) and sophomore Eric Thomas (Cincinnati, OH) earned an 8-3 victory at #2. Junior Luke Tedaldi (West Newton, MA) and freshman Scott Blumenkranz (Portola Valley, CA) earned the final doubles win, with an 8-2 decision at #3.

In singles action, Thomas picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at #1, while Charm earned a 6-3, 6-1 decision at #3. Kohli picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win at #4, while Tedaldi earned a 6-4, 6-1 decision at #5. Freshman Michael Scherer (Potomac, MD) won the final singles contest of the afternoon, taking a 6-1, 6-0 decision at #6.

The Bears continue action next Saturday, January 29, when they host Hartford and Lehigh at 10:00 and 3:00, respectively.
