Since his arrival at Brown over a year and a half-ago Richard has consistently displayed a passion to become the best tennis player he can be. He has put in countless hours off the court improving his fitness level and doing the little things it takes to raise his level of tennis. Richard's attitude, on and off the court are an asset to our team. Richard has already made great strides in his tennis game and it is just the beginning! Richard is a large part of the future of Brown Tennis and his development will be exciting to watch!

Moss's resume in 2003-2004 has been impressive posting a 11-4 singles record and a 16-2 doubles record. Richard is beginning to see the fruits of his hard work, in January Richard picked up two titles at the Harvard Winter Invitational winning both the Singles and Doubles of the B Flight knocking off #1 seed Marcus Sundh of Kentucky. Richard also picked up a title in doubles teaming with Phil Charm '06 to win the Dartmouth Big Green Invitational!

Richard was ranked among the Top 10 National players in South Africa throughout his junior career. Richard has competed in the Windmill Cup in Leeuwarden, Holland, the Sohill Cup in Birmingham, UK, the Delmanhorst Open, and the Stuttgart International Grand Prix in Germany. Richard was selected as the number 1 player to represent the Gauteng Province in the 2001 under 18 Interprovincial Championships held in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

In December at the 2003 Pan American Maccabiah Games held in Chile, Richard won the Gold Medal in Men's Doubles holding off five match points and winning the third and final set 7-6! Richard also picked up a bronze medal for his performance in Men's Singles and Nations Cup. Prior to last year, Richard also achieved a bronze medal in the 2001 Maccabiah Games held in Israel in the Open singles Championship. Richard posted some significant victories over former Cornell #1 player Michael Halperin, Canadian #1 ranked junior Oren Boletti, and Israeli Aviram Soloman ranked #12 nationally.

Richard is an outstanding student maintaining a 3.9 GPA. In 2001, Richard was recognized for his excellence in practical arts and art history by winning the prestigious South African National Art Award! Richard is also a single handicap golfer and an avid chess player.
