Nick's freshman season highlights included teaming with fellow junior Adil Shamasdin '05 to win the 2001 Omni Hotels East Region Doubles Championship capping off a perfect fall 2001 achieving a record of 10-0! In singles, Nick scored a key point for the Bears defeating Harvard's Oliver Choo in Brown's 4-3 win over the Crimson to win the 2002 Ivy League Championship! For 2001-2002 Nick posted a 23-12 singles record and a 24-12 doubles record.
Last season Nick compiled a 20-14 singles record and a 26-8 doubles record with partner Adil Shamasdin '05, which included reaching the finals of the Omni Hotels East Region Championships and a NCAA doubles ranking of #25 in the country. In singles, Nick scored key dual match points for the Bruno with wins over Yale's David Goldman, Harvard's George Turner, and in the NCAA tournament knocking off Wake Forest's Mike Murray. Thus far in 2003/2004, Nick has compiled a 17-4 singles record and 18-5 doubles record. Highlights include reaching the quarterfinals of the Baylor Fall Intercollegiates, the Round of 16 of the Omni Hotels East Region Singles Championships, and dominating performances Michigan State's Cameron Marshall and Michigan's Anthony Jackson.
Nick comes to Brown from the great state of New Mexico where he was one of the top-ranked singles and doubles players in the Southwest Tennis Section. He was a High School All-American in 2000 & 2001. Nick finished his junior career as the 18th ranked singles player and the 3rd ranked doubles player in the United States. Nick reached the quarterfinals of the National Clay Court Championships in singles and the semi-finals of doubles. Nick also reached the semi-finals in the doubles at the 2000 National Hard Court Championships in Kalamazoo, MI.
Nick has attained an ATP world ranking of #1330!
Even more impressive than his accomplishments on the tennis court is the fact that Nick maintains a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the lecture board.
