Bears Improve to 6-0 with Three Victories

The Brown men’s tennis team (6-0) remained undefeated on the season with three wins over the weekend. The Bears defeated Binghamton and Quinnipiac, 7-0, and earned a 6-1 win over Bryant. Five Bears were 4-0 over the weekend, while four other players went 3-0, as 12 members of the team played and 11 earned at least one win.

Bears Open 2012 Spring Season With Three Dominating Wins
The Brown men’s tennis team (3-0) opened its spring season with three dominating wins, defeating Buffalo, 5-2, and defeating both Boston University and Colgate, 7-0. In Saturday’s wins over Buffalo and BU, Brown utilized its depth in singles to get wins from eight different players, including freshman Michael Riechmann (Houston, TX) and sophomore Sam Fife (Scarsdale, NY), who won against both Buffalo and BU.

Bears Compete at ITA Regionals
The Brown men’s tennis team participated in the ITA Regional Championships, held at Cornell with sophomores Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica) and Soufiane Azargui (Burlington, ONT) advancing to the Round of 16 in singles action. Overall, Brown was led by Burke, Azarigui, junior Timmy Klanke (Potomac, MD), and freshman William Spector (Weston, MA), who were all 2-1 in singles action.

Bears Win 30 of 35 Matches Played at Brown Invitational
The Brown men’s tennis team continued its fast start to the fall season, winning 30 of 35 matches played at the Brown Invitational in Honor of Margaux Powers, going 20-2 overall in singles action and 10-3 overall in doubles action. Senior Andrew Yazmer (Simsbury, CT) and junior Tom Deighton (London, England) were a perfect 5-0 over the weekend, while juniors Mike Hill (Topsham, ME) and Timmy Klanke (Potomac, MD), and freshman Daniel Hirschberg (Westport, CT) all went 4-0.
