HANOVER, N.H. - The Brown men's tennis team closed out play at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday. The three-day tournament ran from Friday, Oct. 13 to Sunday, Oct. 15. Senior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) had a strong performance in the invite, advancing to the finals of his flight.
In doubles action, seniors Anthony Arocho (Norridge, Ill.) and Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) won the finals of their flight, 8-7, after advancing with an 8-4 and 8-5 victory in their first two matches.
Freshman Ben Collier (Darien, Conn.) and junior Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) teamed up to win a consolation match of their flight, 8-2, and won their two matches on Sunday, 6-1 and 6-3. Haworth and freshman Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) also took a consolation match, 8-6, and won the consolation final, 8-4.
Junior Mladen Mitak (Zagreb, Croatia) and freshman Teddy van Eck (Rye, N.Y.) were paired in the round robin flight and won their match, 8-3.
For singles, Haworth claimed his first two matches to reach the finals but was clipped, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 on Sunday.
Arocho, Lam, sophomore Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.), Tan and sophomore Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) all picked up a victory in the first round of their flights on Friday before falling in their second match. Lam (6-1, 6-1), Listky (6-3, 7-5) and Walker (6-4, 6-2) rebounded and took their matches on Sunday.
The Bears next compete at the ITA East Regionals, hosted by Yale, on Wednesday, Oct. 18 through Monday, Oct. 23.
