Men's Tennis Announces Team Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's tennis head coach Tim Gray announced the program's award winners recently at the team's banquet. Junior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) earned the team's MVP honor and freshman Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) received the Margaux Powers Bruno Award, which is given to the tennis player who best exemplifies leadership through courage, determination, passion, commitment, sportsmanship and compassion.

Haworth tallied the second most wins on the squad with a 20-14 record on the year in singles, going 9-2 at No. 2 and 5-3 at No. 3. Against No. 26 Cornell to end the season, Haworth defeated the 101st-ranked player (6-2, 6-3). The Corby, England native also registered a 19-9 record in doubles, the most doubles wins on the team.

Walker led the Bears in wins on the season with a 22-6 record in singles, including a 5-1 mark in Ivy League matches. The rookie went a perfect 4-0 at No. 4 and 5-0 at No. 5. In doubles, Walker posted a 12-8 mark on the year.
