Men’s Tennis Clipped by No. 26 Cornell, 4-3

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Brown men's tennis team was edged by No. 26 Cornell, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon. Brown won the doubles point and the first two singles matches but Cornell would close out the match with four singles wins to take the victory.

In doubles action, 44th-ranked seniors Lucas Da Silveira (Incline Village, Nev.) and Gregory Garcia (Poway, Calif.) defeated No. 79 Chris Vrabel and Colin Sinclair, 6-3, in first doubles. Cornell next recorded a 6-3 win in second doubles to tie the Bears but a team of junior Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) and sophomore Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) came back to win the point for Brown with a 6-4 showing in the third spot.

Freshman Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) started things in singles play and won his fifth singles match, 6-3, 6-4, to give the Bears a 2-1 advantage. Junior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) next followed in second singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win over No. 101 Lev Kozakov to push Brown's lead to 3-1. Cornell would then rattle off four consecutive wins in first, fourth, third and sixth singles to claim a tight 4-3 win.
