Men’s Tennis Edged by William & Mary, 4-3


PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With the match tied, 3-3, William & Mary won the final singles match to edge the Brown men's tennis team, 4-3, on Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

In doubles, juniors Jack Haworth (Corby, England) and Anthony Arocho (Norridge, Ill.) teamed up to open the day with a win in second doubles, 6-3. The Tribe claimed the first and third matches to take a 2-1 lead.

Haworth posted a win in third singles with a 6-3, 6-2 showing in the first individual match of the afternoon. Senior Gregory Garcia (Poway, Calif.) followed in fourth singles, coming back to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. William & Mary won the next two matches, including the first singles match where junior Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) won the first set against No. 72 Aidan Talcott, 6-4, but fell as Talcott came back to win the match (4-6, 6-3, 6-3). Freshman Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) won fifth singles (7-6, 6-4) to tie the match, 3-3, but William & Mary picked up the final singles win in the sixth spot.

The Bears return to action tomorrow (Jan. 22) at the Pizzitola Sports Center, squaring off against Buffalo at 12:00 p.m.
