Men’s Tennis Finishes Play at ITA Northeast Regional

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Brown men's tennis team competed in the ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Penn, Thursday through Saturday.

Sophomore Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) opened up the tournament by winning his singles qualifying draw on Thursday, to move on to the main draw. Tan won two-straight matches (6-2, 7-5 and 6-4, 7-6).

On Friday, junior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) won his first match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Junior Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) also had a match win, 6-2, 6-4. Freshman Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) advanced with a bye in his first match.

On Saturday, Haworth was defeated by No. 55 Shawn Hadavi of Columbia, 6-0, 6-2. Sandberg advanced in his first match of the day, battling to defeat Jackie Tang of Columbia, 7-6, 7-5. In Sandberg's next match, he lost to Chris Vrabel of Cornell, 6-3, 6-3. After a first round bye on Friday, Litsky won his first match of the tournament, 6-4, 6-3 against Grant Solomon of Harvard. His following match he was narrowly defeated 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 by No. 94 Tyler Lu of Yale.

The Bears resume the 2016-17 season with a scrimmage at Yale on Monday, Jan. 16 before hosting William & Mary on Saturday, Jan. 21.
