Men’s Tennis Competes at Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. – The Brown men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday at the Alexis Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion.

In the opening day on Friday, junior Anthony Arocho (Norridge, Ill.) recorded a 7-5, 6-3 win in draw four to pace the Bears.

On Saturday, freshman Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) won his consolation semifinal match in draw two, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. The draw three consolation semifinal saw senior Lucas Da Silveira (Inclune Village, Nev.) advanced, 6-1, 4-1, ret. Arocho advanced to the finals when he won the draw four semifinals, 6-3, 6-0.

In doubles play on Saturday, Da Silveira/Arocho advanced to the finals in draw two, winning their quarterfinals match, 8-4, and the semifinals, 8-6. Sophomores Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) and Mladen Mitak (Zagreb, Croatia) won two matches in the round robin draw three, winning their first match, 8-3 and their second, 8-2.

On Sunday, Walker won the consolation final coming from behind, 5-7, 6-3 (13-11). Mitak also won a singles match, a 6-3, 6-1 showing.

For doubles competition, Da Silveira/Arocho won draw two finals with an 8-3 victory. Tan/Mitak won their third doubles match in draw three, 8-6. Walker and junior Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) teamed up to also win a match on the day, 8-7.

The Bears close out the fall season on Thursday, Oct. 20 at the ITA East Regionals hosted by Penn. The tournament will run through Tuesday, Oct. 25.
