BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 70 Brown University men's tennis team defeated Florida Atlantic University, 4-0, in a rain shortened contest on Tuesday and Wednesday. The win extends the Bears' winning streak to six matches and continues their undefeated March.
The Bears were led by junior Daniel Hirschberg (Westport, Conn.), who won at number six singles (6-3, 6-2), and also in doubles with partner Gregory Garcia (Poway, Calif.), 8-5. Junior Justin To (Hong Kong, China) and Lucas Da Silveira (Incline Village, NV) helped clinch the point for doubles with an 8-1 victory over Sean Bacha and Trey Nickerson.
Claiming another victory for Brown was number three singles player, Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica), whose straight set victory (7-5, 6-1) over Andrei Morin-Kougoucheff sealed the win for Bruno.
With the victory, Brown moves to 10-5 overall while the Owls fall to 8-10 on the season. Brown returns to action on March 27th when they will face the University of South Florida at 3 p.m.
