Men's Tennis Competes at the ECAC Indoor Championships

HANOVER, N.H. – The Brown men's tennis team competed at the ECAC Indoor Championships over the weekend, ultimately dropping matches to Cornell and Penn on the campus of Dartmouth College.


On Saturday, the No. 5 seeded Bears dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 4 seed, Cornell, as the Big Red claimed all four points in the singles portion of the match.  Justin To/Lucas Da Silveira (6-5(6)) and Gregory Garcia/Daniel Hirschberg (6-3) combined to claim the doubles point for Brown.  Cornell stormed back with strong singles play to advance to the semi-final round, with Sam Fife scoring the lone singles win for the Bears, as he edged Cristopher Vrabel, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

On Sunday, Brown got three singles victories, including a win by Justin To in the No. 1 match, but it wasn't enough as No. 8 Penn outlasted the Bears, 4-3.  To, Garcia, and Hirschberg scored victories in their respective singles matches while Garcia and Hirschberg combined to net Brown's long doubles win, a 6-2 decision over Austin Kaplan and Thomas Spratt.
