PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's tennis team cruised its way past the .500 mark on Saturday, claiming victories over Binghamton (7-0) and Quinnipiac (5-2) at the Pizzitola Sports Center for its third consecutive triumph.
The Bears overwhelmed the Bearcats in Saturday's opening match as Justin To outlasted Robin Lesage, 6-4, 5-6 (4), 6-5 (3) in #1 singles play before Brandon Burke sailed past Sid Hazarika in #2 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Gregory Garcia, William Spector, Sam Fife, and Lucas Da Silveira captured victories as the Bears swept their way over Binghamton.
In doubles play, To/Da Silveira struck again for a triumph in the #1 doubles match over Hazarika/Lesage (6-5 (3)) while Burke and Spector teamed up to down Frenk Kote and Eliott Hureau (6-1).
Against the Bobcats, Ivan Kravtchenko, Daniel Hirschberg, and Thomas Nath scored crucial victories after Quinnipiac claimed two of the first three singles matches. Burke edged Quinnipiac's Patrick Sell in the #2 singles by a score of 6-4, 6-4 before teaming up with Spector again to nab a doubles victory over Sell /Fernandez, 6-4.
Brown will be idle the next two weeks before traveling to Dartmouth for the ECAC Championships on Feb. 14-16.
