Brown Men’s Tennis Defeats Boston College, 5-2

DEDHAM, MA – The Brown men's tennis team (5-5) traveled up I-95 to face Boston College on Tuesday evening and defeated the Eagles, 5-2. The Bears won at #1 doubles and then claimed victories in the top five singles positions to earn the win, while improving to .500 on the season.

In doubles action, the team of sophomores William Spector (Weston, MA) and Justin To (Hong Kong, China) posted an 8-2 victory at #1, while the Eagles won at #2 and #3 to take the doubles point and the early 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Daniel Hirschberg (Westport, CT) evened the score at 1-1 with a straight-set win at #5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while Spector picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at #4 singles to give the Bears a 2-1 lead. A win by junior Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica) at #2 singles, 7-6, 6-2, and a win by sophomore Michael Riechmann (Houston, TX) at #1 singles, 7-6 (5), 7-5 clinched the victory for Brown. Senior Mike Hill (Topsham, ME) earned the Bears' fifth point with a victory at #3 singles (6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (5)), while BC closed out the match with a win at #6.

The Bears continue action on Saturday, March 9, when they host a double header with Buffalo (1:00) and UConn (5:00).
