Hanover, N.H. – The Brown men's tennis team (0-1), ranked 51st in the current ITA poll, dropped a 4-0 decision to #61 Clemson (5-0) in a neutral-site match played Saturday afternoon at Dartmouth College.
The Bears dropped the doubles point, falling at #1 and #3. The team of sophomore Michael Riechmann (Houston, TX) and senior Mike Hill (Topsham, ME) picked up an 8-6 victory at the #2 position, beating Clemson's Gerardo Meza and Ayrton Wibowo.
With the 1-0 lead, Clemson won three singles matches, all in straight sets, to take the 4-0 decision. The other three singles matches were not finished once the Tigers' victory had been decided. Freshman Lucas Da Silveira (Incline Village, NV) won nine games in singles action to lead the Bears, falling 6-3, 7-6 at #6 singles.
The Bears continue action tomorrow afternoon when they face Purdue in a 12:30 p.m. match, to be played at Dartmouth.
