#58 Bears Close Season with 5-2 Win against Yale

PROVIDENCE, RI – The 58th-ranked Brown men's tennis team (17-7, 3-4) closed out its 2012 season with a 5-2 win over Yale on Saturday afternoon. Brown was led by freshman William Spector (Weston, MA) and sophomore Sam Fife (Scarsdale, NY), who combined for a 9-7 win at #3 doubles and each won in singles action.

After falling behind, 1-0, following doubles action, freshman Daniel Hirschberg (Westport, CT) tied the match at 1-1 with a win at #5 singles. Spector then won at #2 singles, 6-1, 6-4, to give Brown a 2-1 lead, but Yale earned a win at #1 singles to tie the match at 2-2. Freshman Michael Riechmann (Houston, TX) regained the lead for the Bears with a victory at #4 singles (7-5, 6-3) before Fife picked up a three-set win at #3 singles (6-7, 7-5, 6-2) to clinch the match. Junior Tom Deighton (London, England) closed the 5-2 win with a three-set win at #6 (6-0, 2-6, 6-2).
