#60 Men’s Tennis Earns 6-1 win over Stony Brook

PROVIDENCE, RI – The Brown men's tennis team (12-3), ranked 60th in the nation, claimed a 6-1 victory over visiting Stony Brook on Saturday morning. Brown was led by freshmen Michael Riechmann (Houston, TX) and William Spector (Weston, MA), who were both 2-0 on the day.

In doubles action, Spector and sophomore Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica) gave Brown an early lead with an 8-4 win at #2. The two teams split the next two matches, which were both decided in a tiebreaker with an identical 9-8 (4) score. Brown's team of junior Thomas Deighton (London, England) and Riechmann clinched the doubles point with the win at #1.

Brown then claimed singles wins at #2 through #6 to earn the 6-1 victory. Spector earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at #2, while junior Mike Hill (Topsham, ME) won at #4, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Daniel Hirschberg (Westport, CT) won at #5, 6-2, 6-3, while freshman Jacob Laser (Glencoe, IL) also won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, at #6. The final point for the Bears came at #3 singles, where Riechmann earned a three-set victory, 7-6 (4), 4-6, (10-3).

The Bears are now off for nearly two weeks and resume action on Sunday, March 25th, with a 1:00 p.m. match at Georgia State.
