Bears Win Third Straight; Defeat Colgate, 6-1

RIVERSIDE, RI – The Brown men's tennis team (3-0) picked up its third straight win to improve to 3-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory over Colgate. Due to ongoing repairs, which are near completion, to the Pizzitola Center's membrane roof, the match was played at Centre Court in Riverside. The Bears swept the doubles matches and claimed singles wins at positions 2-6 to earn the victory. Freshman Sam Fife (Scarsfale, NY) posted a pair of wins at the #2 position, combining with senior Charlie Posner (Cambridge, MA) to win, 8-5, at #2 doubles, before earning a 6-1, 6-2 win at #2 singles.

Two other Bears won both of their matches on the day, as freshman Soufiane Azargui (Burlington, ONT) combined with classmate Brandon Burke (Kingston, Jamaica) for an 8-2 win at #1 doubles and then claimed a 6-1, 6-2 win at #6 singles. Sophomore Tom Deighton (London, England) earned wins at #4 singles, 6-2, 6-0, and combined for an 8-2 win at #3 doubles, pairing with junior Andrew Yazmer (Simsbury, CT).
