Providence, RI - The membrane roof above the Pizzitola Sports
Center's fourth-floor tennis courts sustained weather related damage
on Wednesday evening (1/12/11) due to the severe storm that dropped
over a foot of snow in the Providence area.
A section of the roof was perforated along a seam, and
approximately 5 cubic yards of snow landed on one tennis court. Today,
workers removed the snow from the court as well as from other sections
of the membrane roof. The University is assessing the damage to the
roof and determining how repairs can be made.
The tennis courts at the Pizzitola Sports Center will be temporarily
closed until further assessment can made. The rest of the building is open and
operating on a normal schedule.
